- Go to Object>Unlock all on spread
- Still Locked? Check to see if the item is on a master page
- To override this hold Shift+CMD and select the object
- Still locked? Check to see if the item is on a locked layer under Window>Layers
- Saving document says “location not found”
- Check that your are still connected to the WIFI and also the Server Folder
- If neither of these reconnect and try to save file again
- If same pop up opens go to File>Save As and updated the Date to current
- If date is same as “Save As” attempt, add “Updated” to the ‘Save As’ File name
- Check that your are still connected to the WIFI and also the Server Folder
- Can not do a “Save” but can “Save As”
- Ensure you do not have the file selected in the folder
- Ensure someone else does not have the file opened or selected in the folder
- Moving Objects off of page makes it disappear
- Go up to InDesign>Preferences>Guides & Pasteboard
- Under the Guides & Pasteboard tab locate the Pasteboard Options
- Edit the Horizontal margins to something larger such as “15 in”
- This will create a larger area around the page allowing for objects to be placed in temporary area within the document
- Within the Template File there will be helpful tips and hints in the surrounding area
- NOTE: OBJECTS WITHIN THIS SPACE WILL NOT PRINT OR EXPORT WHEN DOING SO. MAKE SURE OBJECT YOU WANT PRINTED OR EXPORTED ARE ON THE ACTUAL PAGE
- InDesign crashes and reopening a file
- If InDesign Crashes allow a bit of time before attempting to reopen program
- Re-open InDesign
- As InDesign opens, a dialog box should pop up asking to recover automatically as the program starts back up, select “ok”
- If the document opens immediately go to File>Save AS to save the file with the current date
- If date is same as “Save As” attempt, add “Updated” to the ‘Save As’ File name
- Images are unlinked/missing/broken
- Navigate to the Links tab, this can either be found on the right side of the screen or by going to Window>Links
- (RELINKING) Locate any images/pdfs with a red hexagon with white question mark icon
- (RELINKING) You can relink the image/pdf by either double clicking on the link or right clicking and going to “Relink all instances of ‘FILE NAME’
- If you cannot find the location of the image you can always right click the link and click the “Show Link Information Pane”, this will open under the links tab and give an idea of where the link was located
- (UPDATING) Locate any images/pdfs with a yellow triangle with a black exclamation point icon
- (UPDATING) You can update an the image/pdf by either double clicking on the icon next to the name or by double clicking on the icon on the image/pdf on the page
