Andrews University, Class of 2022
When I was a student Andrews, I didn’t really know what to do after graduation until I was in 4th year. After the first annual NOMAS Firm Hop in March of 2022 in Kalamazoo, I threw all caution to the wind and decided to send my portfolio to Intersect.
For the interview, I was asked to bring in my process work & sketches from my school projects so they could “see the messy.” When looking through these old sketches, I was reminded of the mission of Andrews Architecture program and how well it aligned with Intersect’s mission. I was taught that design was for people, by people, and not just about object buildings/design. Intersect also showed me that I had room to grow.
In a moment of need, I took it upon myself to get out of my comfort zone and brush off my 3D rendering skills. It opened a door to a world of possibilities we didn’t think we would’ve explored as much as we are today. It was because of Intersect’s encouragement that I was able to push myself into something I had experience with, but wasn’t comfortable with just yet, and that I was able to find joy and have fun doing these things while at work .
